West Virginia holds off Marshall, 68-60
The host West Virginia Mountaineers held off the rival Marshall Thundering Herd for a 68-60 victory.
It was supposed to be an easy home victory for the Mouintaineers, but nothing is so simple in this rivalry.
West Virginia held just a five-point lead at halftime and really couldn’t extend it in the second half.
Da’Sean Butler led the team with 16 points while Darryl Bryant had 14. Kevin Jones added 13 points.
It’s back to work for West Virginia, which will now jump back into conference play in the competitive Big East.
